The studio

The Space is a boutique studio for women who want to ‘enjoy’ not ‘endure’ exercise. A bright, airy, beautiful space with the warmth and personality of a home, the peace and tranquility of a retreat, and the very best classes around!

The studio is bathed in natural light and the vibe changes throughout the year, with fresh air and bird song in summer, to fairy lights and Christmas trees in winter – an antidote to the stress of busy modern life. But don’t be fooled, our classes are incredibly challenging and intensely satisfying. We take a holistic approach to everything we do here. Even a leg-trembling barre class can become a mindful meditation when the music, the breath and the focus is right.

At The Space we take what we do seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Come as you are, wear what you like, relax, and enjoy yourself. This is your Space

About

the Classes

Our classes are challenging but do-able if you have a basic level of fitness. And we end every class with deep stretching and mindful breath work, so you’ll leave floating on air (even if your legs feel like jelly). Tap the icons to find out more.

Barre

Combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of pilates, dance & yoga. Barre is challenging but totally low impact & fun too. Great for strength, flexibility, posture & balance. And with fabulous music too.

Yoga Flow

A yoga/dance/pilates fusion with an emphasis on yoga. Flowing sun salutations, challenging standing work, balances, twists, backbends, hip openers, & blissful deep stretches. Beautiful music throughout.

Pilates

Feel lighter, walk taller, breath deeper. Working at your own pace you’ll improve balance, posture, flexibility & strength. Great for all ages, incl anyone with restricted movement. Calm, focused & thorough.

Mindful Stretch

We begin with a 20 minute yoga-style warm up, in preparation for a long slow deep stretch using breath to soften & relax into the postures before enjoying 15 minutes of mindful breathwork & meditation.

Mindful Meditation

A 5 week Intro to mindful-meditation. Learn simple accessible ways to connect with your breath, quieten your mind & find your own practice. Incl. yoga & deep stretching. Courses run sporadically through the year.

A ballet class for women 55+. Whether you're an experienced older dancer or a complete novice you're welcome here. Improve your mobility, posture,
energy levels & coordination

We have a library of barre, barre-stretch & barre-yoga classes to do in your own time. Plus a great 10 week online beginners barre course for those who’d like to nail the basics before coming to the studio.

About

Jo Sinnott

I’m Jo and I’m the proud owner of The Space. As an ex-dancer I’m passionate about the benefits of joyful movement. I believe that with the right music, the right moves, and the right mood, everyone can feel that joy. I love this studio, and the fabulous community of women who make it so special.

A bit of back story – I was a professional dancer & actress throughout my 20’s. At the age of 30 I became a TV presenter. And at nearly 40 I launched my own TV Production Co, where I produced and presented a series called ‘Soul Seeker.’ To cut a long story short, the series rekindled my love for dance, mindful movement and  meditation and was the catalyst for this studio! The Space is the accumulation of a whole life of passion, experience and hard work. I teach the majority of classes here, and those I don’t teach are taught by highly qualified teachers, and great friends of mine who love this studio just like I do!

About

the timetable

All classes are 60 mins and cost £16.50. Classes book in half term blocks (6 or 7 weeks) or pro rata if you start mid-block. If you can’t make your regular session, you can swap it for something else in the schedule so you don’t miss out. You’re welcome to pay in 2 instalments if that’s easier. We do discounts on 2 classes a week. And we offer free trials to newbies.
